Rethinking Agency in the Anthropocene
Three artists of the VIDEONALE.18 talk about the anthropocentric worldview and the exceptional status of humans based on their own works. Letelier shows the alienated relationship of humans to nature using the example of the genetic manipulation and industrial exploitation of salmon as livestock and seeks ways to enter into a new relationship with these beings. As a possibility of a new form of coexistence, Vey Duke & Battersby superimpose the dysfunctional relationship of humans to other species with thoughts on the concept of loving one’s neighbor. Brim deals with the industrial exploitation of the planet by documenting sites of raw material extraction and what it leaves behind.
