Energeia series
2012
12-piece series
PCB boards, coal, copper wire
10 x 16 cm each
Science, politics and esoterism evolve around the concept of energy. Most of these disciplines under their strict dependence of the capitalist canon.
The root of this term; ἐνέργεια or its transliteration Energeia is found in greek terminology, among others, as “power in action”. Coined by Aristotle, he referred to it as to something being in its own type of action or at work. Nevertheless, he suggested that the word can be made clear by looking at examples, rather than trying to find a definition
Small pieces of coal—an energy-generator— are arranged to form a composition on PCB boards—energy-conductive—into which old mechanical technical drawings from a GDR car factory are etched, thus transferring a labor gesture to a current technological medium.
