Des-hecho

2009
Graphite and coal on canvas, 4 pieces
100 x 200 cm each

Des-hecho (a wordplay meaning either waste or undone) is a project that explores realities of contamination and  political subversions.

This series is based on satellite images of four waste dumps located in Chile, where each waste dump has been subject of controversy and local contamination.

The application of coal and graphite is not only the direct transfer of the mineral in the artistic context, but also a historical reference that this resource has as an extraction object and later as a polluting waste.
